He grumbles and paces back out into the deeper water, far enough this time that he can't even bounce on his toes, and slaps noisily at the surface to keep himself from sinking.]

It's not giving up, it's taking his toys and home and stubbornly practicing in secret until he's exhausted and Kojuro calls him out on it and Masamune gets even crankier about it until he is persuaded to get Motochika involved or something so he can just casually show off to Yukimura next time they happen to be near a big body of water and really impress him instead of having him not even respect him enough to just say his current technique sucks!! THAT'S ALL IT IS!!

Masamune halts, already in waist-deep water, and presses his lips into a flat line. This feels like exactly the kind of weird Takeda shit he would rather not get dragged into, but here he is.
